I think that we need to get a personal home safe as soon as possible for some peace of mind – when we were packing for our vacation I suddenly felt very uncomfortable about leaving any valuables at home. I think it’s probably because it’s the first time we have gone away since moving into the new house and I figured that knowing our luck we’d probably come back from our first trip away to find we’d been robbed.

I spent a long time trying to find somewhere safe to hide some valuables, even searching online for ideas (but then realising if the ideas are posted online, criminals probably know about them as well!).

In the end I did hide some stuff, but I also ended up taking a lot of stuff with us – such as our passports which we didn’t even need as we were not traveling on any planes!

I would have felt a lot better leaving things behind if we’d just had a safe – a good quality and reliable one. That way although it would still suck if someone broke in and took things like the telly and laptop, it would not be the end of the world!
