True Weight Loss Clinic

I was just reading some information about the True Weight Loss Clinic in Austin, Texas. It seems like a really great environment for people who need help with losing weight (which is what? At least 50% of all Americans!).

I was looking because I had just finished watching the season premiere of The Biggest Loser and rather than coming away motivated and with that warm fuzzy feeling I usually get I came away worried about the direction the show was going in and how extreme the producers push these contestants to get results.

Each season the contestants get bigger and bigger, they have to because the public need to see these huge, dramatic losses or they lose interest and the seasons get longer and longer. But where does it stop? How many contestants that are 800 pounds are there going to be come season 12?

I think The Biggest Loser sends both a great message (any one can do it!) but a really bad message (it’s healthy to lose so much weight so quickly) at the same time so I struggle with it.

I tell myself to stop over-thinking it and just enjoy the show, but I will always have that underlying fear that it’s going too far!
