A friend of mine went through a really hard time a few years ago when she lost her dad to pleural mesothelioma. I tried my best to comfort her and offer advice but she was so distraught and angry ever since he got the terrible mesothelioma prognosis that nothing I said would help.

In the end I did the only thing I knew how to and that was just being a friend — being there to talk to her about it if she wanted, being there to not talk about it if she didn’t.

It was the two year anniversary of his death last week and it was awful to see her hurting so much all over again, but she got through it as she is very strong

Cancer and mesothelioma in particular are nasty, nasty diseases and like the rest of the world I am desperately waiting for them to find a cure!
