Why do people always want to lose weight fast? What’s wrong with doing it the slow and sensible way?

I have lost over 80lbs but it’s taken me just over 3 years to do it – I get people asking me how I did it, they want tips and suggestions – but when I tell them I ate less and worked out more over the course of 3 years they soon lose interest. Apparently that’s too much like hard work…and then they wonder why they never keep it off if/when they do lose ;)
