Is it strange that you mention trout fishing and I get all frosty eyed and go to a happy place? A little? Well let me explain, it’s not just that I like trouts and fishing – although I do – it’s because growing up my dad worked on a fish farm up in the highlands of Scotland and we would spend three or four months each year living up there with him – I had a crush on the boy from another family who lived there so that was always something to look forward to and in general the whole place had a great community feel about it.

There was naff all to do as it was in the middle of nowhere, but that didn’t matter as we were always making our own fun (and mischief ).

I’ve lived in many places around the globe but I would say that was my favourite of all – a tiny little fish farm in the middle of nowhere!

What reminded me of my love of all things trout this time was trout.co.uk, a site I just happened upon a few days ago that is a great and informative new fishing website for all us cool fish kids to hang out on
