I love puzzles and games that make you think – I can waste endless hours playing games on my phone or facebook like scramble, scrabble, draw something – but I do love playing with real puzzles as well, jigsaws and metal puzzles probably being my favourites, they are good fun and keep your mind ticking over and to be fair my mind doesn’t get much of a work out other than that haha

Little devil

We need to get a new fireplace insert because the puppy somehow managed to chew the current one – I didn’t even know that it came out yet the little devil somehow manged to get hold of a corner of it, chew it to death and then pull out the whole thing. It is definitely a total ‘write off’, it looks like it’s been mauled by a pack of wolves.

Still I like buying new things for the house so it’s not all bad

I spent a few hours this afternoon funeral planning which was totally unexpected – at just 32 years old it isn’t something I had ever even thought of before but while I was out last night a friend was telling me of someone she knows who died unexpectedly at age 35 and what a pickle her family was left in due to nothing being ‘prepared’. I have not actually done any thing yet other than research but I am going to for sure.

Looking at fishing pictures with my Dad

I spent some time this afternoon looking through some Fishing Pictures with my dad – he’s been unwell recently and stuck in the house a lot so although I would usually run a mile if he suggested we talk about or do any thing to do with fishing, one of his favourite hobbies, I thought I would agree on this occasion.
As it turns out it was quite an enjoyable afternoon – he reminded me of when we used to go fishing in Scotland when I was young. He worked up there on the fish farms for a few years and we used to visit regularily, it’s funny that I had almost completely forgotten about what was a 2 – 3 year period in my early life.

Of course as a youngster I didn’t really do any proper fishing myself, just kept my dad company and ‘helped’ out with various tasks such as getting him bait and cleaning out tubs.

We dug out the old photo albums and came across some real gems from those days. My dad looked like a real wild man with a big bushy ginger beard that I still can’t remember him having

As well as pictures of us fishing together we looked at some general fishing pictures online and he talked me through various styles of bait and lines and other stuff that…well I am not going to lie…I did still find quite dull, but it was nice to hear him talking about something he loves and my mom said that that was the brightest he had been in a few weeks and that my visit and listening to him ‘go on’ really had cheered him up.

I am definitely going to make more of an effort to get round there more often, I often say that I will go round then something comes up – but really, nothing should be more important than family.

I recently joined a new cpa network that I hope will help me earn a little extra cash online – I run several websites so the option is there to make a nice tidy little sum but I just have not been putting in the effort recently, relying on old ad networks that actually no longer pay very well at all. It’s about time I tried out some new things and made the changes needed.

How am I meant to carry them?

I need to pick up a bulk order of handle grips this weekend and I don’t have my car – I am not sure what I am going to do because there’s no way I can carry them on public transport. Even though the place I am getting them from is only half a mile from my house (which is why I agreed to collect them) without a car it is somewhat of an impossible task.

New furniture

I am really excited that we are getting some new aspen furniture delivered in a few days time – it’s for the garden so that when the weather is nicer we can sit out of an evening and eat our meals. We do have a table and chairs out there at the moment but it’s a rubbish old thing we inherited from my brother. It’ll be nice to have something ‘proper’.

A criminal, me?

I just found out that before my boss took me on he did a criminal background check on me – nothing too odd about that right? But apparently ‘something’ came up in his words – errr what? I have never had any thing to do with the police in my lifetime. So I looked in to it myself and nothing came up. Confused I asked him to see the results he’d come up with and as it turns out he’d looked up the wrong name haha. That was a bit of stress I could have done without but at least it worked out ok in the end.

I remember when my husband decided he wanted a new car, I remember because he simply arrived home one day with it! He told me he thought he would get a new car, his old one was falling to pieces and costing us a lot of money to keep on the road – before I had even had time to think about it I looked outside and saw a nice shiny black Golf in the spot where our old Kia used to be.

I thought there’s no way, he wouldn’t just go out and buy a new car without discussing it with me first? But no, sure enough that’s exactly what he had done.

He was in the doghouse for a while, I would have agreed we needed a new car and been on board after having a little time to think it through, but the fact he not only didn’t ask me but also simply rushed into buying the first one he came across and didn’t compare prices or research anything to find out more about what would suit us, it made me really annoyed at him.

As you know by now I like a good bargain and always research before I buy anything, even something that only costs £10 – if I can shop around and get it for £9 I am happy. So on such a big purchase I would have spent a long time doing that and thanks to sites like Trusted Dealer and Autotrader it’s pretty easy to do online these days. Trusted Dealers are a great used car consortium that I have used a few times in the past to help others find the best bargain on their new cars so I would have definitely used them to help us find ours.

Oh well, you live and learn
