Blind Surprise!

I was really surprised when we walked into our new house last week and realised it already has blinds in every room – we didn’t know this beforehand and we’re worried about having to rush out and buy curtains, so it’s a load off that now we don’t have to. Obviously we will still get them sooner or later but with so many other things to organise and spend our hard earned cash on it’s nice to have a bit of a reprieve.

Lexus Envy

Our friend, Loz, just got a new Lexus GS and to say my husband is green with envy is an understatement. He loves his cars and got a new Golf himself a few years ago that was really expensive, when he bought it he knew that he was going to have to keep it for many many years as you don’t pay that much for a car you are going to change every few years and at the time he was OK with that – I think he’s regretting it now that he has Lexus envy though

I am not that into cars, I like to look at them and can appreciate a good one, but I don’t go all goo-ga over them like a lot of guys do – but even I can see how amazing the Lexus GS is and am suffering a little car envy myself.

Our friend got his in silver though and we’d definitely want one in black if we got one, both of us prefer black cars and always have done, they just look more shiny and sleek. You can actually get used ones relatively cheap so maybe it is something we would consider, but certainly not just yet as we have just moved home and money is all tied up.

Get up to date gold prices

If you need to keep up to date on Gold prices then you need to have Goldline.com bookmarked, this is the site I have been using for years and the handy chart they have is updated very often so you can rely on the information they display – but if you want to double check just to be certain they also have a contact phone number and email address so you can talk to them directly, there aren’t many free services that offer that sort of support. I also love the wealth of information on the site that covers everything on what to look out for when buying and selling gold and silver and how best to invest it.

Looking at the chart from the last 30 days I was surprised to see just how much it’s value has increased recently – here’s to hoping it continues that way

Search for Coupons!

Rule number one when shopping online is to always check for coupons before making any purchase. Rule number two is to check for cashback offers and rule number three is to use a price comparison site.

It’s amazing how much money you can save on most things, I can’t remember the last time I paid RRP on anything I bought.

It amazes me how many people don’t bother to do this and just buy from the first result in google or from a retailer they have used previously. My sister in law orders everything from Amazon regardless of the price!

BLING!

I got some new sunglasses the other day, they cost me a whopping $2 and they are gorgeous – super blingy though and I generally don’t wear blingy stuff. I am growing to like it more though for some reason, I have a shopping bookmarks folder and there’s an increasing amount of women’s bling sites in it.

The sunglasses were in the sale, reduce from $10 to $5 but I also had $3 worth of vouchers to use making them just $2 – I’ve hardly had them off my face so far and it’s not even been very sunny.

I bought a ring a few weeks ago that’s pretty blingy as well, it’s a huge black heart that matches a necklace I have, and when I say it’s huge I mean it’s really huge!

You’d think my tastes would be getting more refined and classy as I grow older but no, apparently that’s not the case. Maybe one day I will grow up hey?

Cross Trainer? Treadmill? Bike? Something else?

I have just been looking at fitness equipment, I have had a cross trainer at home for over 2 years now and as much as it has helped me lose weight I think it’s time to change it up. I’d love to get a treadmill to be honest, but I simply don’t have anywhere to put it at the moment – nowhere convenient any way. I am thinking it might be time to get an exercise bike

I was reading a bunch of commercial treadmill ratings though to see what sort of price I would be looking at for a half decent one if I did decide to go for it.

I just started running a few months ago and really love it, but it’s not going to be convienient for me to go out in another few months time as I prefer to go in the evenings and it will be dark by 4pm soon enough

Weekend shopping

We did my favourite thing on Sunday, we went shopping at the DIY stores. Gosh, anyone would think I was 60 not 30 – but I do love shopping for things for the house. We picked up some Apavisa ceramic tiles really cheaply, they were in the sale section and although we didn’t really need them it was rude not to at the price they were practically given them away at.

We also got some paint so we can finally get around to completing the spare bedroom, a new duvet cover and also some cushions for the living room.

I also wanted to get some of those solar powered lights, the people who live next door to my parents have some in a tree in their back garden and I love them – I love fairy lights in general but the fact they’d cost money to run always put me off. Now I know you can get solar powered ones there’s no stopping me

Guilt free sparkly shoes

Argh I think I have been spending too much time in the Quicksilver Games Casino recently, I walk passed it every day after work and don’t usually even pay attention but sometimes I just catch the bug and want to be in there all the time. I am a boringly sensible gambler so it’s not like I am going to go in and bankrupt myself though so I really don’t mind – in fact last week I went in every day after work just for 10 minutes and by the end of the week I was £20 up and that means I didn’t have to feel guilty buying that new pair of sparkly shoes to add to my ever growing collection

Use Vouchers When Shopping Online

I never purchase any thing online without checking for discount vouchers first, so many retailers offer them these days that it seems crazy to me not to. There are loads of sites where you can just enter the name of the shop you plan to buy from and if there are any active vouchers it will let you know what they are – it literally takes less than a minute and you can save yourself anything from a free pence to fifty pounds and more often than not you can get your items delivered free by using a code. This is always a major plus point for me because I hate paying for postage – a lot of times something that seems like an awesome bargain when you are looking at it ends up actually being a lot more expensive than you’d pay in the highstreet once you’ve added on the postage which can be as much as £5 at a lot of places!

You’ve bought a new what?!

I remember when my husband decided he wanted a new car, I remember because he simply arrived home one day with it! He told me he thought he would get a new car, his old one was falling to pieces and costing us a lot of money to keep on the road – before I had even had time to think about it I looked outside and saw a chevy colorado in the spot where our old saturn used to be.

I thought there’s no way, he wouldn’t just go out and buy a new car without discussing it with me first? But no, sure enough that’s exactly what he had done.

He was in the doghouse for a while, I would have agreed we needed a new car and been on board after having a little time to think it through, but the fact he not only didn’t ask me but also simply rushed into buying the first one he came across and didn’t compare prices or wiki cars to find out more about what would suit us, it made me really annoyed at him.

As you know by now I like a good bargain and always research before I buy anything, even something that only costs $10 – if I can shop around and get it for $9 I am happy. So on such a big purchase I would have spent a long time doing that – I had fancied a cadillac dts as our next car and as I found out later we could have got a new one cheaper.

Oh well, you live and learn
