One of my aunts recently joined an online dating site and caused a ’stir’ among the older generations of my family. She lost her husband to cancer around 18 months ago now and I think there was a general sense of “It’s too soon” coupled with the idea that online dating sites are full of creeps and weirdos and only people desperate for relationships would dream of using them – I felt like shaking my other aunt who was most vocal in her distaste and telling her that that attitude went out with the ark and actually online dating is very common and normal these days – I think I read somewhere that the Internet is now the most common place that people meet and with over 5 million single people in the UK t really makes sense.

I have personally never used an Internet dating site, I have been with my husband since 2003 and before that dating sites weren’t as prevalent as they are now – there was maybe a handful of reputable ones as opposed to the 1000s there are now!

There’s an interesting article on The Express right now that looks at this in more detail and offer some interesting insights. It’s worth a read :)

Someone told me I should check out a site called Find Hub as I would love it and probably end up using it as one of my default Search Engines – so I am on there now having a look around to see what it is all about and what benefits it will have for me.

I learned an expensive lesson a few months ago when I accidentally deleted a wordpress database and didn’t have a backup – well, I did but it was from several months earlier. Total nightmare, I ended up having to pay my host a small fortune to recover as much as possible for me. The stupid thing is you can easily use free online backup services that do it all for you at set intervals, so there’s really no excuse to not have a backup.

I back religiously now!

Now that the house renovation is officially finished, it’s time to think about the garden. One of the reasons we bought this house was because we had visions of a pond, gorgeous window boxes and a swing chair out in the garden.

We’ve never lived in a house with a garden bigger than the size of a stamp before and it never really bothered us, but given the option of course we are happy to have a bigger one with the space for those things. Previously in rented flats we were lucky if we were allowed a single window box and that was the most greenery we saw!

I need to do a lot of reading about window flower boxes and gardening in general though as it’s all new to me – my skills in the garden currently stretch to remembering to water something once in a while.

I love a good challenge though :)

I have just been watching some Dexter, I am very behind as I am only on season 2 and season 4 just started, didn’t? I am up to the episodes where he has to admit to a drug problem he doesn’t even actually have and is forced into drug rehab by his girlfriend – and ironically actually finds the program useful for dealing with his issues. Plus he meets the awful Lyla who I suspect is going to play a big part this season.

It got me thinking about rehab programs in general and their benefits. Battling against addictions to drugs and alcohol is surely the hardest thing in the world, if there are programs out there like the Narconon drug rehab program that can really help people win the battle, what else could they help people with?

Narconon is a different program to the regular 12 step ones we all know about (and that Dexter was attending) and the world is raving about it. They have a higher success rate than regular rehab programs with a whopping 76% success rate – think about that, it’s pretty remarkable.

I hope that it will be able to help people for years to come and prove that recovery is possible.

I love love love our newly renovated house, I am sure I have mentioned that once or twice by now hey? But I love that it is totally our own, every single item in it has been chosen by us and fits our tastes exactly.

My favourite room is the bedroom as it has loads of really Modern Furniture in it, mainly in keeping with the rest of the house, but a lot more bright and colorful.

We got a lot of it from Spacify and I would recommend them to any one, I only wish that I had more rooms to buy from them for – but alas it is all done now.

I have often thought about cosmetic surgery and what, if any thing, I would get done. I think realistically the only thing I would seriously consider would be a Tummy Tuck. I have lost a lot of weight over the last few years and am now down to those pesky last few pounds – and boy am I having a hard time moving them. I am still trying and I am going to keep trying, I know from experience that I can feel like things have stopped moving and want to give up only to have things all of a sudden start happening again.

It does concern me though that I might be left with a lot of loose skin around that area once I am done, it’s already starting to go that way. I would be distraught if I had worked so hard to lose almost 100 pounds if I was then still not happy with how I looked and still had to cover up my belly because of that.

Having said that I would also quite like a breast enhancement.

When I am done I want it to be toned and gorgeous, so I would definitely consider surgery in that instance. What about you, would you ever consider getting any done and if so what?

If you watch any daytime TV at all you can’t have missed all the gold adverts that air – it seems like there is two or three for different companies each and every ad break at the moment. It seems the used gold market is really big at the moment because a few months ago you rarely saw these adverts – if at all.

The basic idea being that if you have old gold laying around that you no longer want or need. Whether that be a nice gold ring or just some broken bit of gold from an old necklace – send it off to them and they will send you the cash value back!

I’ve never really been a fan of gold jewellery myself so don’t own any old stuff to send off – but all the adverts make me wish I did! It seems like a good deal.

My mom takes a lot of prescription medicines – stuff for epilepsy, high blood pressure and loads more. There is a drawer in her kitchen that is literally full of the stuff and it seems like she is always popping to the doctors or chemists to pick it up. I was just reading about The CapsulCard™ and I think I will suggest she gets herself one – it is basically a Medical ID Card that aims to help patients and doctors quickly and easily share and learn a medical history as well as obviously know which new medications would be inappropriate for the patient to use.

That is something my mom often worries about, being on so many she is aware that there can be adverse effects if the doctors are not very careful when putting her on any thing new.

I am going to send her the link to NCapsul.com now so she can read up a little about it herself and perhaps apply for one :)

I love taking photos, and I love how easy it has become to do so these days. I remember as a teen that it used to be expensive to own a camera, you had to go out and buy films that you could only take 24 photos on and then you had to pay a small fortune and wait a week to get them developed.

Waiting for photos to come back was always so exciting because also you had not already seen what they look like!

Now with digital cameras for $50, huge SD cards and instant home printing the whole process has completely changed. Every time I see 100s of pictures uploaded to albums on Facebook and the like I think how awesome it is compared to how it used to be.

I personally don’t have a printer at home that can do photos justice and I do sometimes like to own hard copies of them, so I still so send them off to get developed sometimes and I always shop at the same digital camera store when I need new supplies for my digital camera. It’s not an expensive one, it doesn’t need to be for my needs, but I still love it because I am a total shutter bug :)
