Wee I am so excited, I have just been on Contract Furniture looking for restaurant tables and loads of other things. If you have been following this blog at all you will know that I just love playing at Interior Designer and have spent the last 8 months totally renovating and decorating my own home – that project was done and dusted a few weeks ago now and I have been itching for a new project ever since. I helped my parents with their kitchen, but that was a one week job (4 days actually) so was over with before it had even started really.

Then just a few days ago my husbands boss announced that he would like help with the new premises, I am sure my husband ‘had a word’ and told him to ask me but that’s OK by me.

Best of all is that he’s paying me to do it! Not a lot, it’s just a token gesture really but I’d have been happy to do it for no payment at all – spending other peoples money on decorating is my idea of bliss – so this is win/win for me.

Now, better stop blogging and head on back to that website to check on prices :)

We went to a trade show with work a few weeks ago and one stall seemed to have a real buzz around it, so we went over there is was because they were giving away photo keychains and other personalized items like pens and even tshirts – as soon as I saw them I wanted them as well because everyone loves a freebie, and of course in the time I was queued up and waiting my turn I was reading all the information that was around us and chatting to the people working there about the product they were promoting. It was really a great marketing ploy.

I am trying to convince my boss that we should follow suit next time we go somewhere like that to increase our brand awareness – he was right there with me and saw the benefits they got from it but is still dubious as he thinks it’d be really expensive.

I’ve been looking up places we could get some items made and have come across radexinc.com, they are a well known and respected expert in this area having been in business for 50 years and their prices seem really affordable.

Frankly I think he’d be crazy not to go for it, but knowing him he probably won’t.

Isn’t it funny how all children hate going to the dentist? I remember many a drama when I was a kid and I would try any thing possible to get out of going – as soon as one checkup was over I would start dreading the next one. Up until the age of about 13 I never had to have any work done, but then I was told I needed the dreaded braces – ugh – that was not a fun time. I had to be knocked out and have 5 teeth out first (including my ‘fangs’) and then I was saddled with the meanest kids dentist ever – he was actually well known and notorious for being unpleasant, so when you already hate going and then get lumbered with the fabled Dr Shnuff it’s not much fun.

I don’t mind going to the dentist now though because our dentist is a lovely man, always cheery and friendly and I come away with that nice fresh clean toothed feeling. I just renewed our dental insurance thanks to a killer bargain I found on Dental Buddy, it’s a comparison site for all things dental insurance related and you know my rules – compare, compare, compare before you purchase any thing.

I love our shower, really. We’ve lived in some less than wonderful places in our lives since leaving home so have had to put up with all sorts shower wise, from ones that take 20 minutes to get hot enough to ones that simply don’t work at all. We’ve certainly never had steam showers before — until the new house.

It’s amazing how much people take a nice powerful shower for granted, but not us. Every time I am in it, all warm and cosy and getting pelted by a heavy flow of water at a steady temperature – I take the time out to enjoy and appreciate it :)

I would recommend getting one to any one, in fact I have been nagging most of my friends and family about it for months. You can get home steam showers from Decor Planet, sure they aren’t as cheap as your regular shower but again – totally worth it. Save up, treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed :)

Ours is still a pretty cheap and basic one, but you can get super fancy ones with all kinds of special features and extras if the budget will stretch that far. We’ll definitely always go with steam showers from now on, nothing else will do.

It’s true, I just love the curtains we have in the living room — we have had them for a few months now but I still look at them and get all girly and happy all the time. They were rather expensive and it took a lot of work convincing my husband that they were the ‘perfect’ set of curtains and totally worth the price tag.

I love that you can see them really well from outside as well, they are probably one of the first things people notice as they come up the driveway and every one who comes in seems to comment on how lush they are :)

The only problem is now I have no excuses to go on The Curtain Shop, Inc website and spend more pennies, because although they sell every thing from curtains to window treatments to bedding – the new house is now completely finished, refurbished and redecorated from head to toe (or floor to ceiling rather!).

The year long work in progress is now complete, and I totally wish it wasn’t because I loved playing at Interior Designer! I would start the whole thing from scratch again if I could, but some how I don’t think hubby will be down with that idea haha

I have always been sensible with money, boringly so. Even as a little kid I used to save my pocket money each week and then buy myself something big once every few months – I plan and account for every penny I spend so have never found myself in a financial pickle. My husband – the polar opposite of that, he’s always been a big spender…even when he doesn’t have the money to spend. He’s needed to employ the use of quick upfront cash and payday loan services on many occasion.

When we got together he was heavily in debt, despite that he still kept spending money and this was foreign to me. It took a lot of arguments and compromise and hard work on both our parts to adjust to each others way of dealing with money – and finally after almost 6 years we have now cleared his debts!

I am sure he will probably need another cash advance loan in his lifetime, because despite every thing he’s still a big spender and I am sure if I wasn’t there watching and helping him he would be in debt again within a few months.

It’s just the way we are wired I suppose!

Next door just had a load of tiles delivered, which confused me as they only decorated last month. So being the nosey blighter that I am I asked them what they were planning on doing with them. Apparently the whole of the tiled bathroom wall was ‘damaged’ during a party they had last weekend, oh dear lol. They say they don’t know what happened but suspect some of their drunken friends accidentally yanked them off – with friends like that, who needs enemies?

Oh poo, it seems I may need to start looking out for discount Dyson vacuums as I am not sure how easy ours is going to be to fix. I blogged a few days ago about how when I last used it it made some spluttering noises, let off a little steam and then stopped working completely. My brother in law who reckons to be somewhat of an expert took a look at it and said it just needed a replacement part. I ordered it from a site he recommended and it arrived today, just in time I thought as I really wanted to hoover up the lounge room today, but my husband just fitted it and it has not fixed the vacuum at all – in fact it has made no difference what so ever.

I think before rushing out to buy a new one I will ask my brother in law to come and have another look (oh boy, he’s going to love me!) as I guess it is possible we ordered the wrong part or fitted it wrong. But it’s not looking good.

We will probably get a new one from Manufacturers Outlet if we do need a new one as they offer really great prices :)

OK, color me green because I am jealous. My best friend just called me to tell me her husband has booked them a surprise trip away to a posh hotel in New Braunfels Texas – I asked her if it was their anniversary or something and she said no, he had just booked it for them as he knew she’d been working very hardly recently and thought she deserved a break.

Some women have all the luck! My husband is romantic, but he’d never do that – mainly because I usually pick and arrange our vacations in fairness to him, but it’d still be lovely if it did happen one day.

Oh well, I suppose if it can’t be me I am glad that it’s her!

I don’t really know the area at all and nor does she so I went to hillcountryvisitor where they have loads of information on every thing from where to stay, to where to shop and eat and what you can expect from the area. It’s a really useful site that I have used in the past when planning my own trips so I am glad I remembered the URL and was able to help her out with some of the information she was after :)
