We were looking for an inflatable guest bed a few days ago, we had both my family and one of my husbands friends staying over so didn’t have enough actual beds for them all. They are actually more expensive than I imagined they would be, when I suggested getting one I thought we’d be able to pick up a nice one pretty much anywhere for maybe $20 – silly me.

Here’s a really cute idea I came across a while ago, it makes giving a gift card a much more personal thing because thanks to GiftCardLab you can customize them with a picture of your choice – so who ever it is for and for whatever occasion, you can create the perfect card for them!

This is definitely a service I am going to use because I often give gift cards and no matter how much the recipient says they appreciate it I always feel like it’s a bit of a lazy gift and this will eliminate that feeling because they will know I did put some time and thought into it :)

When my husband and I first met he was heavily in debt. This is not something that I was aware of until after we’d been together a while and I did not know the extent of his debts until a few years into the relationship. It was a lot more than I had suspected, let’s put it that way!

We decided that we’d work together to clear his debts before settling down and moving in together and through much work, research and advice came up with a plan.

We used loan calculators to work out if actually taking out more loans would help us clear the debts sooner or not and in some cases it did make sense to do that.

It was not easy let me tell you, he especially struggled with not spending money on things that weren’t absolutely necessary and we ended up having many arguments about the situation – we even broke up for a few months at one stage.

But we got through it in the end, it took 3 years and a lot of hard work, but we are now debt free and have set up home together and plan on living the rest of our lives debt free and much more frugal with money :)

Watching 24 last week I saw one of the bad guys enter a building using his finger as a key. How wonderful I thought, imagine if this were real life and not just on the telly — the keyless lock is going to be big in the not too distant future I told myself.

I hoped online and did a quick search, apparently I am not very up with the latest technology because such a thing already exists — the future is already here, and they are actually not all that expensive, awesome.

I can think of a bazillion benefits to the keyless lock, for one you aren’t going to lose your finger any time soon and even when you roll home drunk at 3am you’ll be able to get in your house with ease — who hasn’t spent an hour on the door step tying to get the blasted key to go in the lock after one too many wee drinkies?

But I worry that it would increase violent crime. If someone really wants to get into your house they will, at the moment that might mean they steal your purse — which is scary enough, but say you have a keyless lock and only your finger print will get them in, how far would they go to get it? Dragging you and forcing you to open it? Chopping your finger off even? Eeep.

I am currently watching the second season of Dexter, I only just got into the show a few months ago so am obviously running very behind every one else.

It’s the season where he somehow finds himself admitting to a drug addiction he doesn’t actually have and having to go to Prescription Drug Rehab and Vicodin Rehab classes and going through the 12-step rehab process.

As it turns out he does start getting results and help with his addiction, but of course as we know his addiction is not to drugs.

It’s such an intricate and twisted plot. I love it :)

My mum absolutely loves gardening, ever since I was a child I have memories of her out in the various gardens we had when I was growing up – she would take great pride in her work, would get excited about what she was growing, would spend hours planting seeds. She always said that it relaxed her.

I never really inherited her green fingers and thumbs, until recently that is. In the last year or so I have also stated to become interested in gardening. Probably due to the fact for the first time in my adult life I am in a house that I know I will be staying in for the foreseeable future, my own house as opposed to rental – so maybe now the time and effort involved seems worth it rather than a chore as it was before.

I’ve been reading a lot about organic gardening recently as well as I think this is important – it’s so easy to just throw down all kinds of potions and chemicals without really giving any thought to what damage you may be doing. I want to try out some of the products from Safer® brand as I saw them on TV a few nights ago and thought they looked interesting.

I had a letter from my bank a few days ago informing me that because I now deposit more than $x per month they are going to upgrade my account – I already find this annoying because I like my account the way it is, if I wanted a different account then I would change it myself. But what annoyed me even more was that the bottom of the letter also says that if I now stop paying in $x per month they may close my account without warning – what? So I get upgraded to an account I don’t want and then have to maintain a minimum deposit amount or risk getting it closed? Very annoying.

I think I need to set up a new direct deposit Vision Premier Prepaid Visa account and use that as my main account instead. Firstly there are no charges for when you get that dreaded ‘None Sufficient Funds’ notification and I have to admit that I am terrible when it comes to that, I hate to think how much I have lost in fees to my bank over the years, it’s really crazy, what a waste!

I bought my lovely husband a watch last month for his birthday and I spent an awful lot of time looking around online for somewhere to get him the perfect one – I wanted to make sure it was a really gorgeous and good quality watch but money is tight at the moment so I also needed it to be a realistic price.

There was also te added complication of the fact he’s very hard to please when it comes to things like this, he likes very specific things and every thing has to be just perfect or it won’t do. I have bought him so much in the past that he’s either told me he doesn’t like and has gone back or he has not told me he doesn’t like it but then never worn or used it.

I saw some Bulova Watches while I was searching that I think he would have loved but they were out of my price range at the time.

Oh well, I did get him one from somewhere else and he actually loved it and wears it every day so it’s all good :)

I am a terrible cook, I can’t cook and I won’t cook — it’s a good job my husband can and likes to otherwise I fear I would starve to death.

Ah OK I am not that bad, I am sure I could manage to feed myself if I absolutely had to, but I don’t have to so I have never tried to learn really.

Maybe I should change that, I am sure I could find plenty of free recipes and guides online — in fact I know you can because a friend was telling me about RecipeMatcher a few days ago where they picked up some crock pot recipes. I am going to head on over there now :)

I wish I could get back into website design again. I used to love designing new layouts and making them go live was like, my favourite online activity.

These days I am strictly a free template kinda girl. I got out of the habit of designing my own and have never been able to get back into it despite wanting to. With so many awesome free templates out there it’s too easy not to do your own website designing!
